News » 27.01.2021 - Russia bans pear imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina

As of January 25, the import of pears from Bosnia and Herzegovina -more precisely the Republika Srpska- is banned temporarily by Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of Russia, Rosselkhonadzor.

During negotiations on December 21 of last year, Russian officials informed BiH representatives that during the controls, “systemic identification” of pears infected with brown rot (Monilla fructicola) imported to Russia from the Republika Srpska was recorded.

Having in mind the stated circumstances, and in order to preserve phytosanitary safety and prevent the introduction of this dangerous quarantine harmful organism, Rosselkhonadzor considered it necessary to introduce a temporary import ban.
