News » 29.05.2025 - Agriom debuts at IFTEX "We want to show visitors what we are working on and share the progress we've made at our trial site"

Breeding company Agriom has been operating its own trial garden in Limuru, Kenya, for the past two years and will make its debut appearance at the IFTEX 2025 trade fair, presenting a range of its latest products. "At IFTEX, we want to show visitors what we are working on and share the progress we've made at our trial site," says location manager Sjoerd Ederveen of Agriom.

At IFTEX 2025, Agriom will showcase breeding results in Alstroemeria, Chrysanthemum, Dahlia, Delphinium, Hypericum, cut Hydrangea, and cut Rose. Sjoerd Ederveen, location manager of the trial garden in Limuru (Kenia), expresses great enthusiasm for the developments. "I visited Limuru at the end of January. Together with our breeder and with our local colleague Amos Muigai, we evaluated all the crops and made a number of selections. The results have been very promising!"

Among the highlights are significant advancements in Dahlia and Hypericum. In Dahlia, Agriom is developing striking types with strong stems, abundant flowering, and excellent vase life. For Hypericum, new selections are intensively monitored. Key selection criteria are attractive berries, vigorous growth, and high productivity.

Agriom established the Limuru trial garden to carry out selection activities under local Kenyan conditions. From the newly selected varieties, the company produces limited quantities of propagation material for professional growers located around the equator in Africa and South America.

IFTEX 2025 will take place from June 3 to 5 in Nairobi, Kenya. Visitors can find Agriom at booth F4.09.
