News » 13.12.2024 - EU ambassador visits projects in Papua New Guinea

The European Union Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, HE Jacques Fradin, visited European Union-funded projects in Lae, Morobe Province, from November 24 to 26, 2024. Among the highlights, the Ambassador and team visited two locations in Morobe - Huon Gulf and Markham- out of the six locations of the European Union-funded Flower Power project.

This initiative, implemented by World Vision, empowers marginalized women and youth by equipping them with sustainable skills and knowledge. The Flower Power project is a three-year initiative, commenced in January 2024, aimed at boosting women's income through climate-smart floriculture production.

While in Lae, the European Union Ambassador also visited the International Food Corporation (IFC), one of the leading fish processing companies. Under the interim Economic Partnership Agreement (iEPA), Papua New Guinea, and other Pacific Island countries that are members of the iEPA, enjoy duty-free and quota-free market access, which leads to enhanced export opportunities, capacity building and technical support, and a more diversified and sustainable economy.
