News » 22.11.2024 - China: Dutch embassy attends Kunming Flower Expo (recap)
The Kunming Flower Expo, held from September 20th to 22nd, brought together floriculture enthusiasts and professionals from around the world. The event highlighted the diversity and creativity within the industry, offering a platform for innovation and collaboration.
The Netherlands Pavilion, consisting of 22 companies and the Horti PiB and coordinated by the Embassy of the Netherlands in China, was officially opened by Ambassador André Haspels. "The pavilion spanned over 900 m² and featured an impressive display of flowers, technologies, and sustainable solutions from Dutch breeders and companies. The Embassy booth, designed by LVVN China, embraced sustainability through digital booklets, reusable stands made from paper origami, and dissolvable paper table banners containing seeds. Each element reflected the Netherlands' commitment to innovation and environmental consciousness in floriculture."
The event included the Netherlands Floral Show with New Varieties. Dutch florist, Mr. Pieter Teisman, created and demonstrated floral pieces. The floral arrangements were designed based on features of new varieties from 6 Dutch breeding and growing companies. Mr. Tiesman created designs featuring a "delicate" balance of colors and shapes.
"A Netherlands Masterclass presented the Dutch expertise and practices in floricultural technology. Four presentations were given by technical experts from Dutch companies and focused on various topics, including climate and energy management, tips for growing on substrates, plant nutrition, and biological disease and pest control. The knowledge sharing brought Dutch solutions to growers and users, by discussing effective methods for flower farms."
" The event also fostered networking and collaboration. Professionals from the Netherlands and China exchanged ideas and explored opportunities for partnership during the networking dinner."
