News » 27.06.2024 - Infected gypsophila prevented from entering by Rosselkhoznadzor

On June 19, 2024, a shipment of 109,000 cut flowers originating from the Netherlands and Israel arrived at the cargo terminal of the Airport in Sverdlovsk region, Russia from Lithuania.

Phytosanitary control from Rosselkhoznadzor revealed the presence of a quarantine pest, the Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), in a batch of 225 Israeli gypsophila cuts.

The contaminated flowers were destroyed to prevent the spread of this pest.

During the first 20 days of June, approximately 865,000 cut flowers (including roses, alstroemeria, hydrangeas, gypsophila, lilies, peonies, chrysanthemums, eustoma, and others) were imported from Lithuania to the Sverdlovsk region.

Specialists performed quarantine control measures for each shipment, including inspection, sampling, and lab tests.
